Practicing Digital Painting with Arcane

Image
Isha from season 2. Duration of making: 12h 55m Being an artist myself, a big fan of steampunk and art deco style, and always open to great stories, I obviously became a huge fan of the  Arcane show . The way how it's done with all the details is highly remarkable. I became inspired and wanted to develop my digital painting skills so I picked some of my favorite scenes from the show and did my best to paint them accordingly. This was less about my creativity rather more about following the artistic world of Arcane. Some of them are rendered fully, others a bit sketchy like a concept art. I've provided the speed-up progress video for each, you may find them on my Artstation . Powder / Jinx from season 1. Duration of making: 9h 10m   Powder or Jinx became one of my favorite characters but it developed slowly. For a while I was rather watching her from a distance. In hte meantime I really loved her appearance and talent for making those gatgets what she created. I even l...

I've Illustrated Five Children's Books

Image
Between 2019-2021, I've illustrated five children's books. I designed the layouts and covers as well. These were quite challenging and creative works with great clients. We worked together for years with the author Marcus Kahle McCann to create the amazing story of The Boy Who Was Fire and the cute poem called Look at the Boy that Looks Like a Fox. This was my first time ever making a children's book and I felt very happy to get such a great opportunity. Kahle is such a great client and really lovely person ^^  Learn more about these books >>   Sarah McAneney found me with a lovely tale of Mina's Rain Dance. Great and humorous story about the power of kindness and community. It was the longest children's book I've made so far, filled with challenging illustrations like drawing a square or a rainy scene or lots of side characters. It developed me a lot.  Learn more about this book >>   Reading the adventures of Dr. Cover Three by the author A...

The artistic message of Megalopolis

Image
I've watched the movie Megalopolis directed by Francis Ford Coppola (The Godfather, Apocalypse Now...), starring Adam Driver. It is neither an ordinary, nor a simple film, later at home I've looked up a bit, wrote down some of my thoughts, and realized that this film is brilliant. If you're interested in my interpretation , read my lines AFTER you've seen the movie (or before, if you don't mind the spoilers).   Adam Driver and Nathalie Emmanuel in Megalopolis . American Zoetrope/Cannes   - SPOILER ALERT - I think this film is a great work of art, a story about how real art and a dedicated artist should be supported and allowed to unfold, and not only those who or what brings money. Moreover, it was born under such circumstances, as I've read: "Francis Ford Coppola, the director of The Godfather Trilogy and Apocalypse Now, spent four decades trying to persuade Hollywood studios to finance his grandiose plan. In the end, he sacrificed a significant part o...

Top 6 Art Challenges

Image
My name is Zita Varga ( @zizudraws ), a Hungarian artist and graphic designer. In recent years, I have measured myself in various art challenges. In areas such as developing my technique, finding inspiration, handling artist block, trying out new techniques, stepping out of my comfort zone, and above all finding many talented fellow artists, these challenges added a lot to my creative activity. You have probably already heard of some of these, or you have tried them out yourself. Or maybe you want to participate in one but don't know which one to start with or where to find them. I'd like to share my experiences with my favorite ones and to inspire you. I will add hashtags for each and links so you can find them on social media. 1) Character Design Challenge | #CDC #CDChallenge With some of my digital paintings below, I joined some current topics of the CDC, Character Design Challenge. This challenge is ideal if you want to focus on one character at a time - you can also add...
